3rd July 2020 A letter from Don

Dear friends,

As guidelines continue to change I know you must be increasingly wondering if any of our churches will be opening for worship soon.

The advice from both the Methodist and United Reformed Churches is that the trustees or Elders of each church to take time and plan carefully. Opening will only happen when the time is right and after a full risk assessment for COVID-19 and when plans and changes are in place to make any return to church safe, especially for the more vulnerable members.

Our first responsibility is to keep one another safe and not to expose ourselves or others to a virus for which there is still no prevention or cure. The government may have removed some restrictions on churches but it is for the us to decide when the time is right.

I believe that although it is painful for us all not to be able to meet for worship it is wise and responsible to make sure we get this right. I know I put much of this in my email last week but I will be meeting with other church leaders via Zoom in almost two weeks time and would be very grateful for your thoughts so please contact me by email, phone or letter if you have any thoughts on this as they will be very helpful to us as we consider prayerfully the next steps.

Thank you so much to those of you who have already responded.

Please say safe and keep in touch,

with love and prayers

and every blessing,

Don
